So who do you send down from the 25 man roster to get Morneau on the roster? A relief pitcher?

Thank god it was Presley. Didn't think the Twins would salary dump a guy the fanbase loves so much, but they did. Whew.

Probably Lambo. Too much overlap between him, Byrd, Morneau, and Jones. They seem to like Pie in LF late game.

Twitterverse (yeah I just wrote that...shoot me now) indicates Hurdle hopes to have him available tonight in some capacity.

Not bad. I read that the Twins were holding out for Kingham. Looks like they came to their senses at the last second.

Nobody. He probably won't be here until tomorrow, when rosters expand.

He needed to be on the roster by midnight Saturday to qualify for the playoff roster.

If you check your MLB Stats, Justin Morneau is the 14th rated first baseman in hitting and the No. 2 rated defensive 1B at .997 and he is also second in Range Factor at .969 - many 1B are in the .800s. I expect that he will flourish at PNC.

I'm sure hoping so. It will be nice to have a guy that you don't need to replace for defensive purposes. That will save us from seeing more at bats from Sanchez against righties.

Six home runs and a .360 OBP for September would look pretty nice.

Why is everyone assuming that Morneau will end up as a rental?

Obviously his contract is up after this year, but he's only 32, the Bucs need a 1B, the market for his type is thin and the last time the Bucs landed a quality 1B like him via trade (Derrek Lee) they tried to re-sign him in the offseason, but were rejected. Plus, GFJ's time as a Bucco seems to be coming to a close...

Why are we putting it past this FO to have traded for someone who can not only help this year, but in following years?

Thank you for raising my question.... I'm wondering the same about Byrd as well.

And FWIW, Presley has drawn 2 walks in the lead-off spot for the Twins today (for reference, that is more BBs than he drew in 73 ABs for the Pirates this year).

He's actually had very good K and BB rates for his career. Not surprised it normalized a bit. He's been pretty disciplined in extended looks, there just wasn't much PT up here with the OF they've accumulated.

He'll maybe wind up a 4th OF for them, which would be good for him. Seemed like a good guy. Personally I'll just be happy that we won't have to read about how he plays the game the right way so should be getting more of a chance. That was always infuriating.
