Bob Smizik and his minions have just been itching for this dry spell so they could start telling us how the sky was falling again. Here's a little something that might be getting overlooked:
Since the last week in July, this team is 16-15...obviously staggering to the finish line. Oh, wait...that is the Reds record. Here we go, this team is 16-18....take cover, epic failure part III, right? Oh, that's the Cardinals record??? The Pirates record during that span is 17-16. See, Bob-I can dissect portions of the schedule to manipulate my slant, too!

I wasted a minute of my life by reading it too and didn't have any problem with it. Was completely standard Smizik stuff. Says there's cause for alarm, then says it all might turn out well and stay tuned. Controversial, cutting-edge stuff as always.

Good thing the other contenders have also faltered, otherwise we might be quite a ways back.

I keep thinking and hoping we might go on a hot streak again.

Now would be a very good time to win 10 or 12 or something like that...

Bozo still writes??? I have refused to even glimpse at a Smizik article for the last couple of years. Arguably the biggest schlub in The Pittsburgh media.

I believe the phrase "don't feed the troll" applies here. The guy still has a job because people talk about everything he writes, whether they like it or hate it.

ha, just started a thread about the same thing, not realizing it had already been covered here! so i just deleted the thread and instead will add it here...

-----------------------

on july 28th, the eve of the big four-game homestand against the cardinals, the bucs were sitting in second place, trailing the cards by one - on august 29th, 32 days later, the bucs are sitting in second place, trailing the cards by one, and about to face them again. although i would have loved to see the bucs put some distance between themselves and the cards/reds during the 32 days that have separated these two meetings, i can certainly live with what has transpired. go bucs!

Jones having the game of this season, and no game thread.

Let's just help the Cards along to their late season collapse....

This place definitely dies down during wins when we look solid from start to finish. Shame, this would've been a really fun game to discuss. Nice to see the 2 guys who are struggling the most (Jones, Martin) put forth a solid effort.

Still think Jones is a likely non-tender, but he might not be dead yet this year.

No, most Friday/Saturday games are slower for game threads. I was out and about tonight (still am).

True as well. Was more thinking of a certain poster who doesn't show up much during wins.

Personally I was watching the game while having my fantasy football draft.

Liriano is a difference maker. Glad jones decided to start hitting. Really needed him to step up.

Liking the addition of Byrd and buck.
