The weather here tonight isnt good and am downloading things for my new MP3/camera/camcorder device and got to thinking since it is 2009...

What would be your All 21st Century Team?

The Roster consists of these positions to fill:

C-1B-2B-3B-SS-OF-OF-OF-DH-SP-SP-SP-RP-RP

Post and debate away...

***I almost forgot, 21st Century team I mean the years 2000 through current***

1b Albert Pujols or Jim Thome
2b Chase Utley
SS Derek Jeter
3b Alex Rodriguez
Of Barry Bonds
Of Sammy Sosa
Of Vladimir Guerrero

Steroids aside this is my team. Utley and jeter were just some names i threw in I couldnt think of anyone else that amazing at those positions. Same with vlad.

Here is my list

C- Jason Kendall- Overall he's been consistant until recently, gives you 140 games and .293 career battin average and .371 on base %...given some protection in a lineup of All Stars I'll take less power from here for the on base % and iron man ability behind the plate.
1B- Albert Pujols- The guy is flat out amazing.
2B- Jeff Kent -Chase Utley was my 2nd choice but went with Kent because of his consistancy and his raw power numbers and abilities to drive in runs.
3B- Alex Rodriguez- I put him at 3rd instead of SS.
SS- Hanley Ramirez- Has been an unbelievable SS hitting, high errors but his hitting makes up for it.
OF- Barry Bonds- All Time HR King, I'll find a hat that will fit his head.
OF- Ichiro- Great Glove in RF or CF, can hit anything.
OF- Vlad Guerrero- Hits anything, and very good fielder.
DH- Manny Ramirez- He can do whatever he wants to do as long as he puts up numbers like his when its his turn to bat.
SP- Jake Peavy- Just a very good pitcher, too bad his teams havent been that good for him.
SP- Roy Halladay- #2 or #3 in the AL Cy Young it seems every year....he'd be more known if he wasnt in Canada.
SP- Johan Santana- His numbers with the Twins were incredible.
RP- Mariano Rivera- Is dominiant as a closer can get, will give you 2 or 3 innings if needed.
RP- John Smoltz- Starter to closer and was unbelievable.

Thats my list...some guys that are in the minors from my list are Greg Maddux, CC Sabathia, Chipper Jones, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins and on the Disabled List: Ken Griffey Jr.
