He has been spending the last 4 or 5 games in right field. Could this mean a call up in Sept.?

More likely it's preparation for a move to right field in 2014 and a call-up in June or July next year.

I can't remember, did Marte begin playing LF before his call up? If so I'd assume that JC is 100% correct.

Polanco is listed at 170lbs, is about to turn 22, and has only about 3 months of AA under his belt. Is he really going to be ready by June?

Once he is ready, do you reshuffle the positions? He, Cutch, and Marte can all fly. Seems like you'd want the fastest guy in center and the best arm in right. But I don't know how they compare.

Polanco is projected at RF by most accounts. He is bigger and stonger than Marte and Cutch.

The next incarnation of the Cobra.

Well, you put Cutch wherever he wants to play. After that, you go with whatever affords Marte and Polanco the most comfort.

The Curve's web site lists Polanco at 170, smaller than Cutch or Marte.

There's some chatter that Polanco is ready now.

But, I think that's moot now. That was more getting thrown out when people were asking about Lambo for the stretch run.

I think ideally it'd go Polanco, Cutch, Marte from left to right but it's likely going to be Marte, Cutch, Polanco.

Some have said that they think Polanco will wind up the best defender of the 3 but I doubt Cutch gets bumped out of center so am not really even entertaining that as a possibility.

Marte's arm belongs in right. I don't see why he'd object to the move.

He's listed at 170 wherever you looked. Pirates Prospects have him at 206. Baseball America says that he's at least 30 pounds heavier than his listed weight. 170 is what he weighed when he came to the U.S., maybe.

I remember Rafael Belliard being listed as 5'-9" when he came up with the Pirates. The Braves listed him at 5'-6". My friend's father was 5'-4" and worked at the airport. He saw Belliard there and claimed that he could see the top of his head. My guess is was really about 5'-3".

Reports I've heard were that of the three Polanco may perhaps be the best CF option, but the Pirates will not move McCutchen.

Also, I believe Marte has the best arm- might he move to right? Polanco playing RF suggests no.

As an aside, is Palonco the new McCutcheon?

If so, pretty pathetic considering Placido Polanco has been in the league for 15 years with about 6 different teams.

They had him in LF last night. That move gives me a bit more pause, as that's now the position where we could be hurting (especially defensively) in September until Marte is back.
