buccos pluggin' along, the cards and reds not so much! the bucs finished +12 in games 1-70, and they're currently +12 in games 71-140 (albeit two left to play in this block) - anyway, some nice consistency going on here. how about the cards? +20 in games 1-70, .500 in games 71-140. the reds? pretty much the same, +14 in games 1-70, +3 in games 71-140. how about the friggin' dodgers? 53-13 in games 71-140, wow.

Interestingly, they're talking about the Cards right now and how they've scuffled a bit (22-23 since the All-Star Break). The RISP numbers are normalizing and they have very few HR/SB, which are the great equalizers for a slumping offense/player (see Alvarez, Pedro).

Add in the fact that they're extremely GIDP prone (the most damaging thing to an offense by far) and they're going to need to rediscover some BABIP magic with RISP or hope that the pitching staff turns it around.

You'll always see BABIP anomalies, it's why career years exist, so the Cards just need to hope that this is their "career" year. Or, again, that the pitching finds itself.

where do you find risp stats for given periods, games 1-70 for example? as gaudy as the cards' risp numbers were, the buccos pitching risp numbers were equally gaudy, be interesting to see if they've normalized as well and, if so, to what extent....

I usually just go month-by-month with splits, not necessarily game-by-game. You can search from specific dates to other specific dates on Fangraphs but not sure you can specify game numbers.
