Shit strike zone so far today, too.

Is it Lockes command or does he nibble? Question has been on my mind. Doesn't have anything to do with the runs he allowed just now. Hell, to his credit he usually gets out of jammed innings unscathed. Does he need to adjust his corner of the plate mentality?

Well he walkd 2 batters, so it does have to do with dbacks 2 runs.

I think he nibbles. Aggravating as heck. Now that he's not pitching at an all-time low BABIP clip every time out (not his fault, it's natural) he can't keep handing out free passes. Not even for the runs, his pitch counts are going up like crazy on top of it.

Yeah, never tied that into his pitch count/innings pitched on average per start. Sometimes you have to pound the strike zone and trust the defense behind you.

I'm saying I asked the question not because of the two runs he allowed but because it seems like he has nibbled (my new favorite word for Locke) the plate over many starts, not just this game. Does he feel his stuff is becoming more hittable? Is he cautious of his approach?

Locke needs to get his head in this game. He seems afraid or unable to throw over the plate. 4 walks in 1.2 innings.......not good.

54 pitches through 2. Not gonna get it done.

Still think he's a #4 starter in the long run, but with another rookie in Cole up here it'd be nice to get Wandy back to really solidify things.

Agreed. I've been thinking that for a couple weeks now. Locke hasn't been sharp since the break. Morton, though good lately, makes me nervous. Cole is a rookie with pitch count limits.

While waiting on Rodriguez's hopefully successful return does Cumpton become more of a player in the rotation?
