Here's a description of the Whitey Herzog vs Garry Templeton photo...

Quote:
August 26th, 1981. Cardinals Manager Whitey Herzog physically pulls short stop Garry Templeton off the field after giving the middle finger to booing St. Louis fans. After the season Templeton was traded to the Padres for another young short stop named Ozzie Smith. As both Padres and Cardinals fans can attest, the rest was history.

And here is the infamous Leyland vs Bonds incident...

Leyland = World series champ and a boss.

Bonds = owner of home run record* and the biggest ass chewing ever caught on video.

Saw MLB expanded replay. Good. One step closer to automated strike zones. That strike 2 on Cutch was an embarrassment.

Can someone explain to me why Marte was trying to steal third with two outs and a 2-1 count on Pedro?

For all his talents, Marte is NOT a smart baseball player.

I've got nothing. Unreal. He was anticipating a Pedro Alvarez infield single.

And now Burnett's slow to first on a routine ground ball.

The Pirates don't have the talent to play dumb baseball. Sheesh.

Actually, no he isn't, and until he shows me he can pitch and win a world series game, then hit over 700 HR's for his career while taking lots of performance depressing drugs, he won't be.

That call was black-on-black crime. I couldn't believe that he called that a strike.

Would be nice for Lambo to get something here. Thought for sure we'd be seeing Jose today after he played last night.

Lots of loft in that swing, have to think if he runs into one it has a nice chance.

Oh, shocking, it's the obligatory "you hit your spot on 3-0, that's a strike" call.

The 3-0 strike call to Lambo was amazing.

So now who comes in? I don't just take that lying down, so I pull Burnett from the game and bench him for a week.

As long as it's "consistent" that's what matters

Would love to see a ref in basketball call every shot with only one foot behind the 3-point arc a 3. It would be completely incorrect, but hey, it's consistent and apparently that's important too.

"WTF WAS THAT"

"uhh, that was a reliever throwing 96 mph cutters, Babe. Why do you ask?"

I don't think Babe Ruth in this era is coming anywhere close to pulling off that feat.

I'd amend the original statement to "Barry Bonds on roids = best player ever". Babe Ruth on actual steroids (not the deer sperm + roots or whatever the hell he tried to use) would have been pretty crazy though.

Our pitchers are beyond useless at the plate. It's nauseating.
