I think we'll be seeing Taillon out of the pen in September, similar to what David Price did a few years back.

I do not. Too much depth both SP and bullpen-wise internally excluding Taillon, and there really is just no reason for it unlike with the Price example.

Furthermore (and not saying this is you), I think people just like to make the Price comparison because they're just impatient with player development and are just instead always only interested in the ETA to the majors.

At any rate, around this time was to be anticipated for Taillon's AAA promotion and I'm glad to see it.

For me it's mostly the awareness that teams are 'playing it safe' with top-pitching prospects these days and I'd rather see them contribute to what c/should be a contending team no matter what.

It doesn't make sense to call up Cole just to send him back or shut him down.

Agree about Taillon though. Don't think he needs to be 'rushed up' this year. Great that he'll see some AAA action though.

Cole came because he was needed with injuries but was virtually ready anyway. We have a month to see what develops with SP. If Wandy can't go and another goes down or goes sour, it could be Taillon's time. Boy he's aweful young to be on the cusp. isn't he?

He's officially on the Cole path. Could be up early next year.

Keith Law thinks Polanco is ready by June of next year. Even if that's ambitious (I have no idea, I'm deferring to him since he saw actually him recently), no reason he can't make it up in July.

Kingham will likely start next year in AAA.

Hanson will have every chance to earn a September call-up.

Dickerson should open in AAA as well.

Lots of potential options next year. A lot of contracts come off the books, too. Should be nicely positioned to sign a big free agent if any of these guys fizzle out.

Polanco will be 2015, MAYBE September 2014.

Hansen will be 2015 as well.

Keith Law to this day does not understand the Pirates, they operate slow and steady regardless of how ready people are. It's how they operate.

You don't follow the minors too closely, do you?

They don't operate anywhere close to slowly with prospects, they're very aggressive.

Only thing that held Marte back was a broken hamate, another hand injury in May last year, and a terrible K/BB rate.

I feel like this front office will probably adapt to different situations. Last year, the collapse was pretty much on in September. This season, if the Bucs don't collapse, maybe things will be different.
