Need to take advantage of a 'B' lineup.

It'd be nice to see Cole get through the early part of the game unscathed, especially the first inning

Todd Helton has to be at least 64 years old.

Could likely be snubbed, but should be in the HOF one day.

This is the free MLB.tv game of the day for fellow out of towners who were unaware.

I had asked some people here and elsewhere about the overall quality to MLB.tv subscribers. I have probably seen about two or three dozen games the past few years but wanted to know what full season subscribers thought because I was considering purchasing. It's a truly wonderful service but I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the lagging issues I have had when watching 6-7 games this year. Most people had told me that had no issues but often times even having something like 2-3 tabs open on my browser will cause the MLB.tv to freeze up for a few seconds and have serious lag issues.

Anyone notice Cole's velocity drop a bit in recent games, or am I just crazy? Wasn't sure if his arm was a bit tired or if it was a conscious decision, but just noticed tonight that he's hitting 99 again, so maybe he just didn't have as live an arm the last few outings. I know next to nothing about pitching so feel free to correct me here if I'm just making shizz up.

I usually watch on my phone or on the PS3. Both are awesome. The PS3 is basically like watching it on an actual TV broadcast - note that it's also plugged right into the modem there.

I've noticed less lag this year on computer - just set up my office in the new place so I'm watching on the computer for the first time in awhile - and it's pretty smooth tonight.

The service is phenomenal. I love it.

EDIT: Of course it's starting to freeze a bit on me now.

He's a pretty tough case. Peak seemed to drop off a bit early and he has big home/away splits IIRC.

Hurdle and his staff allowing Marte to continue his pathetic, useless drag bunt attempt leading to a pitcher's count as he continues to increase his terrible K rate is just completely intolerable.

Watching this also with the Rockies feed......a lot of good info on how others view us. Nice not to have a wade through all the pop-up crap.....and with a HD pic no less.

His career OPS is only behind Pujols, Cabrera (two first balloters) and Votto (only five season's worth of sample size) for current players. Also don't agree that he dropped off ... in his first 11 seasons, only in two did he post an OPS less than .900 (one of which was his rookie season with only 93 ABs). Unless you're considering his age 35-40 seasons after "early on". The home/road splits might be an issue, but considering he was also extremely good on the road as opposed to dominant, I wouldn't hold it against him.

Well, Tulowitzki is awesome. Just keep it at that solo shot and Cole should be alright.

Todd Helton seems like a non-roided Brian Giles.

Fine player, but HoF?

Crime Dog smacked 100 more HR's and he gets no Hall love. Jeff Bagwell won an MVP, made a WS and has similar stats to Helton and he's finding it tough to get the votes.

Helton's like Carlos Delgado: terrific 1B, but stuck in an era flush with them. He's clearly overshadowed by those who did more.

Tough, tough case.

Tulo nailed that Cole slider...... his slider posts at almost 90MPH and does not bite real good......looks like a flat FB. Ray will address that.

I will gladly now use this point to post one of my favorite historical statistics of all-time: Only 12 players in history have hit more HRs with a better BB/K ratio than Giles, including Barry Bonds and Albert Pujols.

If Giles hadn't proved to be such a terrible person off the field (and not just with the PED speculation, but the other stuff that people should remember if they've been a Pirates fan for a while) he would be one of my all-time favorites. Even so I am constantly aruging that he is one of the more under-appreciated players in recent history.

He was 1.050 at home and .860 on the road. Is that a HoF type road number? I don't know the "cutoff" for that stat for a guy going in for his 1B bat.
