Started a photobucket account. Resized the pictures and it tells me my URL is "invalid" or "too large." Help! :?:

It's common for sites to have image size restrictions. Most of them now will simply re-size it automatically, but some will still send out that message. The good news is, Photobucket allows you to edit the pictures to different sizes.

Click the image you want, on the right side of the screen should be an option to edit. In there, you can a just the image size.

Thanks, I did resize it down, but this site won't let me link to it.

i'm not sure i get what you're trying to do? you can control image size in photobucket several different ways: you can edit your image as rtjr mentioned, or you can click your username and from the drop-down list select "user settings". once in user settings you can select upload options (customize upload options) and define default image size(s) for uploads and linking. but again, i don't get what you're trying to do?

I have some images saved that I want to use as an Avatar here. They are too big, so I put them in Photobucket and saved them. I have tried to link them to the board site, but it won't accept a URL link.

Well, now that you've resized them, can you save them back to your hard drive, and then upload from there?

ok, here is what I did:

I edited on photobucket, down to 90 by 74.

I saved it to my hard drive. It even has those dimensions listed (90 by 74)

I went to upload it to this site and it tells me: "The avatar’s filesize must be between 0 and 6 KiB."

Yeah, and Rochester's got himself a gif as an avatar. How the heck is that smaller than 6 KB?

So, between this step, e.g. getting the error message, and actually uploading your new avatar, what did you do?

I found a picture that was less than 6kb(?) Some of the pix, even at 90 x 74 were still too big.

Well, it looks good, though I did prefer your older one...

I guess going old school is still the way to go.

Wonder what it would take to increase the avatar size limit anyway...
