Write-up on the event from ESPN. They think he's most likely to put on a memorable show.

My wallet sure hopes he does, as my book had him at +600 to win. Wish I could bet on longest HR.

I'm sensing Pedro will put on a show tonight...pitches right down the middle and at a moderate speed with a relatively short LF porch? Yep, that sounds like a perfect recipe for Pedro to do really well. Go Pedro! Go Bucs! :D

I also think he will do well. He has as much power as anyone in baseball.

This just in - he didn't win.

On the cool side for me, the guy throwing him his pitches - Rudy Pena, is the 3rd base coach for my Bradenton Marauders.
He's also the nephew of Tony Pena.

Even though he didn't win, I liked how the announcers put across the point of him hitting that moonshot and them marveling over it when Prince Fielder did it, but kind of ignoring it when Pedro did. For his first HR derby when it was obviously Cespedes show, he didn't embarrass himself, so that was good.

Another Home Run Derby, another Pirate, and another interview taking the focus off the Pirate in the Derby.

heh...to counter my problem I try to be no more than $10 per bet. This time I went up to $15. Considered betting on Alvarez, Harper and Cespedes. My A's friend won a cool $50 on Cespedes.

I've found it more enjoyable now that I no longer bet $50/$100 per event.

So it wasn't just me who was upset by the timing of the interview? On the plus side, it muted out Chris Berman :D

I'm surprised ESPN acknowledges there is a Home Run Derby winner if it is not a Red Sox or Yankee...

It was tame compared to last year. They actually visually showed a lengthy interview with Josh Hamilton during McCutchen's ABs.
