The second largest "market" can't get their player into the All Star Game.
That sobbing that you are hearing outside emanates from Bristol, Connecticut.

This makes me so happy. I have nothing against the guy but I'm so sick of Puig. Now we'll have to hear how terrible the system is and how we the fans got the vote wrong.

All while conveniently glossing over the fact that Bryce Harper is starting in CF despite missing almost half of the first half.

There should be an eligibility rule for the All-Star game, Like you have to have been active for 75% of the games or something. This would also solve the issues of super-star players who are out most of the season getting in due to popularity instead of performance. The game is supposed to be about this year, not last year. IMO anyways.

I'm glad Freeman made the All Star Team over Puig. He deserves it much more IMO (even though he is an Atlanta Brave!) :D

Boy, am I gonna get flak for this. I hate the All-Star Game. It's a circus, literally a popularity contest (and Puig is rapidly losing his popularity, although he is an exciting player), and means very little. Advantage in the post-season? Does any player really think about that during the regular season? I watch a lot of baseball and, as we all know, the game is beautiful. But the All-Star game is nothing but a little bit o' bread and a lot of circus. Yeah, the games can sometimes be exciting....but not often. So, I think I'll miss it this year....and dream about...well, none of your business.

The home field advantage being determined by who wins the all star game is one of the dumbest things ever.... :? :? :?

Like the rest of you, I am glad.

Agree with most everything I said...and I said before too that there needed to be some kind of eligibility requirement for these rookies. I did not like it when Harper got in a few years ago as a rookie either. Let them play some time before they get the reward.

On the other hand, that could work for more than just rookies. If someone has not played in say half of the games, they should be ineligible to play in the game. Regardless of how great they are!

You would think that in a modern age of stats that they would just pick the leaders in WAR either by position, by team leader(s) and/or overall. It would be a totally fair system.

The problem is the near-meaningless of the AS game and therefore the need to pander to fans.

I guess I'm firmly in the minority here, but I wanted, I guess, for Puig to play. Not that I care or watch the All Star game anymore. But maybe Gonzalez will pull out of the game as well as the derby....

It is absolutely idiotic. All because a meaningless game got called a tie. Who cares? Selig got roasted for something completely insignificant that I think was the right move while Teflon Stern vetoes Chris Paul to the Lakers and no one bats an eye.

How in the heck does Selig catch more flak for calling an all-star game in the tenth than he does for tying something important to the stupid game?
