Jeff Locke pitches tonight, which means his next scheduled start would be the last game before the break, eliminating any chance of him playing in the All-Star game.. Any chance that he gets skipped and then we re-shuffle the rotation after the break? As a young pitcher who hasn't thrown a lot of innings and none in a pennant race, I think it might be wise to have him miss a turn.

Id be more open to that if we hadn't lost 2 series in a row. You don't want to lose all momentum going into the break.

Despite the extremely "meh" series this past weekend, really looking forward to this A's series and Locke's start in particular tonight.

Especially when the Cardinals just changed their rotation to move Wainwright up a day - and thus pitch again Sunday and miss the all-star game.

Locke can still pitch in the ASG, just only for an inning, no?

The Bucs should plan based on their need, not some nearly meaningless exhibition game.

Locke pitched a gem tonight, but then another wasted effort because our offense can't score. Im just not liking where things seem to be headed. Starting to feel like déjà vu all over again.

I think you are missing the primary point of this...my thoughts are you shut him down for a start plus give him most of the All-Star break off to essentially give him two starts off. Given that he has never pitched the number of innings he is on pace for and the benefit of having him fresh later on during a pennant race is the point. Being available to pitch an inning in the ASG is a bonus.

And no, it is not meaningless...it's for home field advantage in the WS....we are hoping to get their this year, right?

You've got to make the playoffs, then win at least one series before the big one. Get there first, then worry about where the games are played. His next start is far more important that the AS Game.
