I wasn't afraid it would happen, I knew it would. Mercer isnt the long term answer at SS.

Yeah, I just expected him to tank sooner than he did so when he didn't I convinced myself that maybe a light had gone on.

A slumping Jordy (and it's only been just over two weeks... nothing out of the ordinary) is still better than Inge.

It's great that Inge is one of the few problems with this team, but it feels like such an easy one to fix.

Man. I really really really really hope that Tabata is for real. What a shot in the arm that'd be.

they were showing the Marte at bat on MLB Network and one of the analysts said that if Marte hits a homerun then the Pirates are gonna win it all this year..... ;)

Well yeah, but Walker's injury doesn't seem to be serious so Mercer vs Inge is kind of moot.

Mercer vs Barmes is pretty important though....and Mercer's defense leaves him very little margin for error with the bat. SS is too important of a position defensively.

Definitely agreed. Just felt like venting any/all aggression toward Inge.

Has anyone else mentioned how bad he is? Cause he's pretty bad at this point. ;) :D

Yeah Inge is awful. Definitely can understand the venting. He's definitely battling Fort for biggest liability.

The enfatuation with The Fort needs to end as well. He is no longer a decent backup catcher. I know the backup catcher isnt supposed to be much offensively but at least bat above .200. His defense isnt all that great either. That throw down to 2nd yesterday was terrible.

Tony Sanchez should be the backup by the end of the month.

Clint's defense makes up for the majority of his offensive shortcomings. Besides, Barmes had an okay 2nd half last year. Maybe he can do that again.

Barmes' D is exceptional. When Mercer was on fire, he and Barnes were still a wash in run differential....that's the difference in their D.

Fort just doesn't fit the role of backup catcher in any way. Average is too low to pinch hit him, defense is too poor to fill in for a full game. I mean, the Reds stole Joey Votto against him. That's how little teams respect him.

But, he tries hard and wears his pants high so usually gets a pass.

He's been exceptional. The CS numbers aren't because he has guys running like crazy on him. Phenomenal percentage.

Gomez warming up? Is grilli unavailable? Why not use your best reliever against 3-4-5?

When you are on the road in extras you still use your closer as a closer. At home in extras you use him against the heart of the order.

Snider plays so deep that routine balls fall in front of him. Last inning he setup at the warning track.
