All deserved.

Marte had a case, too, but the one-per-team and fan voting, along with a plethora of worthy candidates makes it an understandable 'snub'.

Besides, Locke got in! Whoa!

Melancon and Martin had a case too. Maybe we will see some injury replacements.

I would give a shout out for Russell Martin.

Ah, crap. Of course!

That's a snub.

Ridiculous.

Have to think Pedro is in the Derby now...right?

Congrats to all of those guys. Was listening to MLB Network last night and they talked about picking guys who had great half seasons vs. guys who might not have been quite as good but were more established (it was in reference to Dominic Brown vs. Yasiel Puig), so I'm shocked Locke made it. They seemed to like the longer track records....then again ex-Phils skipper Larry Bowa was one of the "analysts"

Puig is in the final vote... where he should be. If the fans want him in, he will get in.

The only  picks are Bryce Harper and Travis Wood.

Harper is obviously a fan favorite and Wood the token Cub.

Alvarez? Must be somekind of mistake! After all, he's fat, lazy and wears his hat wrong!

Cutch and Cheese... expected and congrats!.. Especially happy for LockeNess and Pedro! I think this is a landmark for El Toro at this point. He's getting there. I saw Locke pitch against the Cubs at PNC last year towards the end...it was the game samardya ( i know i spelled it wrong) pitched a complete game and shut us down. I'd have NEVER expected Locke to be 8-1 in July of this year. Man what a turnaround! I'll take it! Ground Chuck didn't have it today....AJ plants the Jolly Roger on the Wrigley mound tomorrow. RAISE IT!

Pedro wins the HR derby if he's in it. As long as the pitcher doesn't throw him down and away...

and he belongs at AAA!

Seriously though, I am very excited for Grilli, Alvarez, and Locke.

I think that Martin will get added to replace Molina.

While I am happy with Marte's play, I don't really think he deserves it YET.

I do hope that Puig does not get in..after a month in majors.

I dunno, I think it's great. I mean, if we accept the twin basic premises of fan voting coupled with each team getting a representative, then the game should be about fun and rewarding the players of the day. And Puig is the player of the 1st half of the season.

Ahem ... for the years where a reliever was the lone ASG representative, Evan Meek was way worse than Mike Williams in retrospect. Williams at least did have several successful seasons (and even though I don't care about the stat, racked up a ton of saves) and was in the league for 13 years. Meek was a one-year wonder set-up man who was cut from his team two years later and may never reach the majors again.

Puig is the tebow of baseball because he prays to Jesus every time he does something. I personally find it very self serving myself when a player does that. Like Jesus only sides with them.

But the kid is a heck of a good young player.

I agree, but in that case, cut the shenanigans and quit making it mean something. Make it the NBA all-star game.

That would suggest that Puig isn't very talented but gets attention due to his Christianity. Puig's popularity is almost entirely his 1.155 his OPS as a rookie. As someone who follows the league pretty closely I had no idea about the Christianity angle until this post.

I go back and fourth with it. On one hand my mind tends to play tricks on me and go against conventional wisdom to say that I actually like that the ASG means something because it at least gives me some interest in paying attention to it whereas I wouldn't willingly sit through a meaningless one from another league. That being said, the fact that the voting system is the way it is and what the games sometimes end up being as far as how the designated manager allots playing time, etc. it is clearly criminal that the game means something potentially impactful/valuable. Patterns like a rookie like Puig getting in don't bother me half as much as undeserving established players getting in 5+ times on name recognition alone.

Meek had an ERA under 1 at the break at least. Williams is still the only All-Star to sport an ERA over 6. That was an embarrasment.
