Polanco went 2-3 with a HR and a walk in today's game. He is now sporting a .333/.413/.485 line, for an OPS of .898, with 8 BB, 11 K's and 4 SB's in 17 games.

Power, plate discipline, speed, stolen bases, plus OF arm, left-handed swing, and 21 years old in AA. He does not have enough AB's to qualify among the leaders, but if he did, his OPS would rank 7th, his BA 1st and his OBP 5th.

The guys who would would be ahead of him in the OPS ranking are ages 26 (Allen Dykstra), 23 (Cesar Puello), 28 (Javier Herrera), 24 (Josmil Pinto), 24 (Andrew Lambo, who has obviously moved to AAA), and 20 (Xander Boegarts - a huge, HUGE blue chip prospect).

In other words, the only player in the EL hitting as well as Polanco and that young is a massive, huge prospect.

It is time to stop talking about dealing Polanco for Stanton or whoever. Polanco will be a tremendous player for 6 1/2 years for the team lucky enough to add him to RF in June of 2014. Think Starling Marte but with far better plate discipline, fewer K's.

Again, kidos to the front office. Drafting and selective pick ups has really turned this very weak system into a contender. It should remain that way for many years. I'm getting very bullish on our whole deal. And many were calling for NH's head.

Looks like he'd be a natural 2-hitter for the Pirates. I'd love to see him between Marte and McCutchen.

R-L-R, all with plus-plus speed and baserunning, and where Polanco and McCutchen will take a walk.

Add in Pedro Alvarez hitting HR's, and the top 4 is very good ... better than we have seen in quite a while.

Probably more power as well.
