To be fair, I wouldn't call Mondesi a bust or lump him in with that group ... I would just call him what he is: a quitter.

I don't really see how a young player acquired in a trade who was a former top prospect and had had some considerable Major League success would fit into this discussion. I also didn't agree with the decision for the Pirates to non-tender him. Despite that he obviously displayed poor baseball IQ times, he would have been a completely serviceable, cheap bench option to have available which is something the Pirates failed to have a lot of the time.
