July 4, 1863 - the second most important day in our country's history. That day, Lincoln learns that Meade has defeated Lee at Gettysburg, and that Vicksburg fell to Grant and the Western Army.

OT for baseball, but hey - Corsair mentioned the Civil War, and it is darn close to the 4th of July.
