Looks like Cole is definitely staying up. Would assume AJ will take Gomez's spot and then Reid will be sent down with Gomez sticking in the pen.

These things always work themselves out, don't they? Glad to see they are working out OUR way for a change. Maybe we'll get really lucky and have a rested and strong-armed Wandy for the playoffs!

Sorry, Rob Biertfempfel tweeted it out about 55 mins ago.

AJ Burnett is also scheduled to throw a sim game on Tuesday.

Maybe. But recurring forearm tightness has too often been a precursor to TJS. Let's hope that's not the case here.

So much for the notion of saving Cole's innings.

They could still send him down long enough to get the extra year when AJ returns and give Jeanmar the starts while he is down..... :) :) :) :) :)

What does 'shut down' usually imply?

60-day DL?

Suspension of baseball activities for X days for extensive testing to see what's up?

Precursor to, 'forgone conclusion: this ain't good.'?

Yes, not exactly explanatory. Does this mean he's done for the year?

No, it means he's not going to throw for at least a while.

Ok I read the article. As long as we keep winning, no need to rush anyone back.

Yeah that's probably the best guess. Only issue is that he'll wind up all the way back at square 1. So probably looking at August as the best case scenario since he'll probably take a month just to stretch back out.

A number of players who ended up with a torn UCL and TJS originally had a clean MRI. Sometimes the tightness in the forearm is the precursor.

Actually, from experience with a son and others, it is usually numbness in the hand, specifically the ring and little finger that indicate a ucl problem and that does not even preclude a problem.. No. 1 has a lump on his elbow that will take many moons to go away if it ever does....MRI's will show structural damage 99.95 of the time...it's not a pleasant thing but he is not crippled and can throw with his offspring if that happens..... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Numbness in the hand may indicate a problem - but so can forearm tightness. There are at least a dozen MLB pitchers who originally had "forearm tightness" and ended up with TJS within a few months. Not saying that is the case here - but it concerns me.

One example: Joel Hanrahan left a game with "forearm tightness" in early May. We all know where that ended up.

Didn't they have to "shut down" Morton a bit during his rehab? No bid deal! Oh, wait, the also had to "shut down" Karstens during his rehab.
