I had to. And in all seriousness, I do think Cole will be very, very good.

Just don't think he's worth losing an arm currently on the ML roster over. A AAA stint should do him good.

Edit: And before somebody says "well management shouldn't string him along"....if the prospects of being sent down caused him to hit a guy, issue a 4 pitch walk, and give up 3 hits all in one inning, he'll never be an ace. One of the prerequisites for the ace profile is plus-plus-makeup on top of sick stuff.

usually young pitchers hit a wall. after they've had a few starts, teams start to figure them out. agreed, marte dawged it. could've gotten on base.

great catch by cutch btw.

Yeah defense really picked up Cole that inning.

And yes, the Rooke Pitcher Regression was inevitable. Unless your name is Shelby Miller, apparently. But Jose Quintana, Jose Fernandez, pretty much every rookie pitcher in years past WILL hit it.

Pedro absolutely smoked that ball. IF he can keep this up, this team has very few limits. He's the X factor.

This umpire isn't calling anything low in the zone. I meant to take a Gameday screenshot of Cole vs. Aoki in the first AB of the game, Cole's first two pitches were both strikes low in the zone that didn't get called resulting in a 4-pitch BB, one of Hellweg's pitches to Marte there was just a tad lower than the middle of the zone and was called a ball.

Brand new ballgame.

Would LOVE to break into their bullpen early in the first game of the series.

For all the times our pitching has picked up our offense, great to see the hitting reciprocate tonight.

Thank you Segura . Aoki pisses me off. His lucky ass defense, weak arm, and slap hits.

There was a thread (completely warranted) about Pedro and going the other way with the ball against the shift. I hope that getting a knock out of that excuse-me-cue-shot shows him that he doesn't need to try to pull everything to be effective. Smoking the ball into a shift is worse than duffing something against it.

What a job by the offense. I hope they get a huge ovation as they leave the field.
