To quote a plethora of characters from the Star Wars saga . . . "I have a bad feeling about this."

Hurdle sure is stubborn. He keeps running Sanchez out there against righties. I think Snider or Presley would be a better option.

This would be a big win if we could somehow find a way.

Just heard on the pregame radio show that Presley was sent down and Duke Welker was brought up for insurance option for the bullpen incase Cumpton doesn't last long today...

Is this Bailey's 1st start against the Pirates since his big game last season?

Marte with a leadoff hit. It seems like this hasn't happened in a while.

It happened two games ago when he led off the game with a triple.

As nad mentioned, Presley was demoted this morning. I agree though, Snider should be in RF with Jones at first.

Send 'Cutch here?
I'd be hesitant . . . count on Jones to get job done.

Unbelievable the number of times that this team simply cannot put a ball in play. Mock me all you want on the term "productive out" or "productive AB" but this team has to start putting the ball in play when there are ducks on the pond. Particularly when the starting pitcher is not going to hold the Reds down. Ridiculous.

Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Lead off double. Mercer can't advance the runner. Marte has to steal third base to set up an outstanding scoring opportunity. Jones can't hit even a fly ball. Alvarez takes a strike and whiffs on two more. Inept.

And the defense helps out Cumpton . . . not.

You can't convince me that a catcher with a .222 career average is worth keeping around for his bat when he's repeatedly victimized on the bases. I don't understand why they don't let him go.

Yep . . . that's what happens when you put the ball in play.

The Reds have stolen the least number of bases in the NL. Yet . . . they tried to run Votto on McKenry. That speaks volumes. Loudly.

You can add the number of times that the Pirates have taken a 3rd strike to the list of where I'd like to see where they are ranked.

Through 2 innings for Pirates' offense:

Number of outs: 6
Balls in play: 3
Runners reaching base on balls in play: 2
Strikeouts: 5

Cutch finally finds a hole. Good to see him get off the mini-schnide.

These games make games like last night so much more frustrating. Bailey is an okay pitcher and we have a tendency to be overmatched by them, but no reason to not tee off on a right-handed soft tosser like Arroyo last night.

It seems like they are waiting too much for that perfect pitch and other pitching staffs know it...
