Here's a link to the list at http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/12/n ... ed-pl.html

Players that interest me.
RHSP Daniel Cabrera, RF/DH Jonny Gomes, CF Willy Taveras, RHP Yhency Brazoban, and 2B/OF Chris Burke.

Cabrera will give you 200 innings. And a bleeding ulcer.

(Look at his K/BB9 rates.)

What about Aaron Miles as another backup infielder?

He can play 2nd, 3rd, and SS and could possibly be a starter if a trade of Freddy or Jack would happen...

Miles is the sort of backup you sign for 4 mil over 2 years.

Chris Burke was a good player at Tennessee, but has only been decent in the majors. He might be a good and inexpensive back up.

His first year at Houston wasn't a terrible one. The guy has talent, I've seen it in person. Maybe he needs the old "change of scenery"?

I agree, he seemed to be a talented prospect awhile ago. But in '07 he hit .229. Then he got that change of scenery you mention and went to Arizona last yr where he hit .194.

True. But I still think there is talent there and we could probably get him cheap.

Hey, he can't be worse than Andy LaRoche.

LOL. I concede that Laroche may be Burke in 4 or 5 years, but theres no way to judge that so early in his ML career, despite last year's late season ugliness.

Burke wasted away too long on Houston's bench because of Craig Biggio's quest for 3000 hits...

Its still early to give up on Andy LaRoche...hopefully hes finally healthy and has taken some of the extra pressure off himself from the trade and comes out and plays ball

He is worse than Andy LaRoche. Burke does not have anything close to the minor league pedigree that LaRoche has. Burke is also in his late 20's; LaRoche will be 25 next season.
