Jack is running out of teams...

Punto signed with the Twins for 2 years

http://mvn.com/outsider/2008/12/the-twi ... punto.html

Quote:
Reports out of the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas say that the Minnesota Twins have re-signed infielded Nick Punto to a two-year, $8 million contract with a club option for a third year..

Punto had some interest from the Philadelphia Phillies, but returned to the Twins instead. He's likely to see more playing time with the Twins anyway, as he will probably be the team's starting SS.

Punto hit .284 last season while playing 99 games, including 61 at shortstop. He has experience playing 3B, SS, and 2B during his major league career, but now looks like he'll primarily be a SS for 2009.

Hopefully Jack's trade value will be higher in July.

I hope Jack is healthy and has another good offensive year. I'd rather him stay and be productive, than bring in some kid from Florida that hits .219.

I think we'd all like to see him be productive. The problem is that for most of his career, he has not been that. Of his eight seasons in the majors, Jack has been productive in only two: 2004 and 2007. Sure, we could take the risk of him having a career year in 2009, but if he doesn't, then he's a $9M sunk cost. I find that circumstance very likely and very unappealing, so I applaud any effort to trade Mr. Wilson.
