Weeks was hunting that fastball. Offspead and he would've looked foolish, real foolish.

They've been tearing it up all game against Gallardo and given that Tabata struck out....it was the right call. Gallardo bailed him out the Bucs with the WP

My only complaint with that sequence is don't bunt him pitch 1 then let him swing away. Always feels like giving away a strike in that instance. I agree, it was a decent thought, just wish it would've been a "do or don't" type of scenario.

*My post is in reference to Tabata. Don't like having Mercer bunt in that situation.

Having Mercer bunt with Inge on first, no outs, and the count at 2-0?

Dumb. Just plain dumb.

Inge was safe...not gonna get that call though when the ball beats you that badly.

Some piss poor base running on the buccos part. Those could come back to haunt us if we don't win this game.

Well, as far as "given that he struck out", as StarlingArcher pointed out, Gallardo jumped out to a 0-1 count after they decided to let him swing away after missing the bunt on the first pitch.

But I disagree with the strategy. I would take my chances on a scoring Marte on a base hit with 0 outs rather than sacrifice him to third to play for the sac fly, fail to execute it, and then get a third out to strand him.

The throw-out of Segura and the framing on strike two to Braun...

Gorgeous.

Thank you, Russell Martin.

Martin has been a revelation defensively.

I was watching the Indianapolis game the other day, and I'm fully in favor of Sanchez getting the call for McKenry at any time. He caught a guy stealing 2nd from his knees. Has a gun back there, very impressive.

Melancon comes up big AGAIN.

On the subject of bunting, has Marte ever gotten one of those down? Clearly I'm a huge fan of him, I just feel like he gives up a strike way too often by showing bunt and never getting it down.

The 2-1 pitch to Braun from Melancon was a 92-mph cutter that was a good 4-5 inches outside. Martin quietly brought it onto the outside corner. Strike two. Braun was PISSED... and he waved at strike three in frustrated fashion.

Advantage: Martin.

Snider just showed se great base running. A come backer and they swap Snider for Cutch at second? Nicely done!

Man, what's happened to Weeks in recent years? Not complaining as he was part of the bat-flipping triumvirate with Braun and Fielder, but geez talk about a fall from grace. Chuck Knoblach reincarnated on that throw.

And Cutch's speed gets him to 3rd on a stolen base which end up netting a run on the error. Oh, the little things ......
