I posted this in today's game thread but going to make it it's own thread as it's one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

Francisco Liriano AB during his rehab stint in Indianapolis ...

that's incredibly bad for everyone involved ( except for the runner coming home who had to tell liriano to run)

It looks to me like the 1B ump called Liriano out on the line drive, so its no wonder that he didnt run right away. Bizarre play.

Gotta love the minors....

One of the most fun games I ever saw was in AA ball. One catcher, who had great power and a strong arm (he hit a towering HR and a great throw to nail a runner at 2B) had three (!) catcher interference calls. I didn't even know what the calls were, took me to the second of the three to even know what had happened....

Which leads me to the question BuccoBoy asked a while back: does a catcher interference count as an AB? I would think so, but I just don't know.

I want to say that the batter is credited with a single on catcher's interference, but I might be confusing that with some other call.

Nope, I looked it up. The catcher is charged with an error and the batter is not charged with an AB or plate appearance.

Yes, that's what happened and why Liriano hesitated to run. The first base umpire signaled it as a catch, but when the runner from third came home, the home plate umpire called him safe and that ended up overriding the original call.

Still hilarious, however, that Liriano actually reached and that it scored a run. And my favorite part is actually Liriano's swing, which looks like someone who had never swung a baseball bat before.
