He's missing fastballs that even I may be able to hit. And I'm 60 years old.

If this were his problem, the fix is simple and immediate. I recall that for me, the difference between 20-40 vision and 20-20 vision was being a .300 hitter versus being a .250 hitter.

You would think checking the eyesight of baseball players on a baseball team (especially in MLB) would be of the highest priority...you would think...

...I know what you're saying and I agree 100%...

I think many times these guys go up to the plate and are guessing...they have their minds made up on what pitch they're going to swing at no matter where the ball is instead of making sure they see the pitch for what it really is. Put the ball in play (hopefully for a hit)...whether it goes over the fence or not should be icing on the cake...

The pitch count should be...IMO...insignificant...except when the batter has two strikes in the count. The batter should then make every attempt to protect the plate. Putting the ball in play at that point should of the highest priority.

Be aggressive with the pitch IN THE STRIKE ZONE and put the barrel of the bat on the ball...I think I heard that's a main belief of Jay Bell...

I guess pitch recognition is really really important and the best hitters have that skill...how many Pirates have that skill is the question. Having great vision should also go hand-in-hand with that skill.

Pedro would have to get contacts. I think he would be uncomfortable wearing glasses along with pulling his hat over his ears...

Or he could get Lasik.

I'd have to bet a lot of money that MLB teams ensure that their players have proper vision.

Pedro looked lost against Aaron Harang. That's not a good sign.

Pedro is playing like he is inviting a UFA contract offer to Mark Reynolds next year!

Just saw El Toro at lens crafters last week. He's good to go.

I then began to explain to him the importance of pitch recognition and we also talked about his uncanny opposite field power in relation to waiting for his pitch. Driving the ball to where its pitched instead of rolling over.

It hasn't been working.
