Really piss-poor job of managing there by Hurdle when Mercer lead off with a double. He had Barmes bunting for no reason. The man is already in scoring position and a weak hitting pitcher is up next.

Then after Barmes flew out and Mercer moved to third he had AJ bunting. You can't sacrifice a guy home. I think they might have been on to that move.

It's called a safety squeeze and, yes, it is ruled as a sacrifice.

Damn, Marte just got tagged out in a weird caught-stealing rundown.

Stumbled a little bit, but then he stopped between first and second. Probably would have been better off making Montero get him at second.

However, given the mound opponent, I would have been inclined to put Tabata in for Burnett at that point. So ... I agree with your point that I didnt like the managerial choice there.

I have no problem with asking Barmes to bunt.

With one out and a runner on third, I'm with you. I take out Burnett and take my chances with the pen. One run is gold against Felix Hernandez.

IF, however, you are going to keep Burnett in, then I wouldn't have Barmes bunting.

King Felix is out. Is Tom Wilhelmson the guy who was bartending at a tiki bar a few years ago?

Damn.
Damn.
Damn.
I like McKenry but Martin likely blocks that ball which cost the Bucs a run.

Simply have to get Walker and Martin back in the lineup. That's a key 25% of the offense that isn't playing.

Well I didn't like it. With the infield drawn in I thought having Burnett swing away gave us the best odds by a long shot. I would not have pinch hit for him there.

Man, just finished up work and checked the score. Sounds like the bucs handed the mariners runs in this one.

Thought I'd see the headline, "bucs run past the mariners as Pedro Alvarez leads the charge."

Handed them one, and that was enough.

Didn't get to see much of the game because I was at work. Have MLB on my phone, saw where hurdle had aj bunting with two outs and a man on third. Retarded! Sounds like the bucs bats were cold again, and a wasted effort by Burnett.

Pirates have not played well since the brewers series. Lost two series and split with a average at best mariners team.

How many times did kdro strike out?

To be fair, it's hard for any team to get the best of King Felix.

Shockingly NONE.

AND Barmes had a hit off of The King... :o
