to the NL Central. Brewers are getting him for Mike Cameron.

Now we will see first-hand the guy that was most-talked about coming to the Bucs all last year.

A career .250 hitter, 35 years old...He is a good defender and has some pop, but thats about it...

George Steinbrenner's kids are going to kill that team...YAY!!!!

I was looking up some stats on Cameron and found he was traded by the Mets to the Padres for Nady...Now they'll be playing together

I'm pretty sure the Yanks won't miss Melky, but this trade is not going to make the team better.

You guys understand that Cameron's only holding a place for Austin Jackson right?

I didn't think of that, but then why couldn't Melky serve the same function?

Cameron offers more pop, thats pretty much the only incentive I see here. They got tired of watching Melky's 300 foot "blasts".

You are forgetting the biggest factor. He is CC's buddy. Might have even been part of the deal.

I cant wait to see what the Yankee payroll ends up at this year. The Pirates should be getting a real nice chunk of change in revenue sharing.

I don't think the Yankees or Mets have to pay any luxury tax this year due to somehting to do with the building of their new stadiums and the amount the teams are paying toward this.

That is correct. I think they get to deduct a certain amount of their building expenses...one report I read a while ago suggested that the Yankees may not pay any luxury tax, but I can't find where I read that, and I find it hard to believe.

Further, the Yankees actually won't have all that much of an increase in payroll as people assume. Giambi and Abreu are coming off the books, as are some pitchers. Even with their spending spree, its not going to be a ridiculous increase over last year.

Heck, based on what I've read, they may not be able to finish the parks! Both are going back to the state and asking for an extra $450M!

And, we learn today the Wilpon(sp?) got whacked by the Maddow (sp?) ponzi scheme, and may be out a few billion on the side.

I wonder if the Yanks will have to justify to the legislature asking for $450M, while paying CC and AJ?

Maybe they should have built both stadiums down in the Wall Street district. Then they could have killed two birds with one bailout.
