While I'm thinking of it Tabata needs to go on the dl if he's been unavailable this long. Pulling a Neil Walker again.

Gotta get the bats going.

The bottom of the first sucked the life out of the Pirate bats and injected confidence into Gonzalez. THe Bucs are only chasing 2, but this just doesn't have a good feel to it.

Yes, the failure to get 1 or 2 hits with the bases loaded, no outs, in the bottom of the first is the game. Put up 4 or 5, and Gonzalez is pinch hit for in the 5th or 6th.

Fail to do so, and lose.

These past two games are ugly. Sloppy, bad play, walks, errors, poor situational hitting, poor hitting in general, more walks, another error and bad umpiring (the Wandy balk call was a @#%&*ing joke).

McHenry's failure to advance Martin to third may come back to haunt.

And the bottom of the 6th inning results in a rally killer. Failure to perform fundamentals like moving a runner over from second to third with nobody out. Failure to make contact in the first with nobody out and the bases loaded.

Frustrating!

McDonald and mckenry have weak ass arms. Result. Runner at second. Just to add Wandy is getting squeezed big time.

McDonald is a banjo hitter too. Hitting 080 before his last at bat? I see the difference between Martin and mckenry behind the plate. Martin is way better defensively.

Well, that was a disappointing inning. Our 3-4-5 hitters go out 1-2-3 on 9 total pitches. Make Clippard feel like he's on the absolute top of his game....

Agreed, turned off. Click. Hurdle that's what you get for throwing minor leaguers in there to pitch.

The 'good' news would be that the Bucs nearly (arguably 'should' have) won those games vs. a good team like the Nats.

It sucks to lose, especially like this, but it's tangible stuff that is the problem and can be fixed or worked upon. (That is, these are more 'other 54' losses than surmounting 'lose 54' games.)

Hurdle needs to figure out the lineup (roles, DL, etc.) and get over the 'save situation'.

The team needs to convert the chances they create.

There are foundations here and the woeful M's are coming to town.

Snag these two games (vs. Felix will be TOUGH) and then gear up for the Mets and... ugh... Brewers.

Cubs and AAAstros might prove a nice spell before another tough run vs. the... ugh... Brewers and Tigers.

Just keep playing this level of quality ball and good things should happen.

'Lets go, Bucs!' indeed!

First criticism that I can recall that Hurdle shouldn't rely upon young players . . . he's typically criticized for being too verteran focused.

That first inning took the air out of everything. Started the game hot, pretty much guaranteed at least 2 runs that inning, and you wind up with the 1, from a solo shot. Not from having the bases loaded.

I blame the lineup that we ran out that, most of anything. Pedro and Snider should of been playing.

Again, people mock my constant hammering of productive ABs . . . but the Bucs left a runner on 3rd and less than one out with the team's best hitter at the plate yesterday while the Nats plated three runs by simply putting the ball in play with runners on 3rd and less than 2 out. May not seem to be a big deal at the time but golden opportunities to score can't be wasted.

Today . . . can't help but think that this is going to come back and bite the Bucs in the butt. Gonzalez is a good pitcher and they had the chance to easily put up 2 or 3 runs.

Strike outs, strike outs, strike outs. Freaking unacceptable.

I don't think anybody would argue it in this particular situation.

The game was lost in the first inning.
