That pretty much settles BD and my exchange of information. So . . . let's say that Sanchez's suspension is upheld. Do the Bucs get to keep Morris on the roster or do they need to go "one man short?"

If they can play with a full roster unless and until Sanchez is recalled (and I don't see that happening), then Huntington is off the hook in my eyes for a potential roster management error.

I think the suspension applies to the player, not the team. So Sanchez would have to serve that when he is eventually reinstated to the majors. Although that may never happen.

A great waste of 1.375 million dollars that anyone with eyes and internet stats could see coming.

Not defending Sanchez, but at the end of Spring Training who else was there?

McPherson would have gotten the spot if Sanchez hadn't. Of course that wouldn't have worked out any better.

Even for the Pirates this isn't a ton of money to waste.

Sometimes when you're playing poker you keep betting on a hand even though you are pretty sure you are going to lose. And the reason you do it is because once in a while those longshots come through for you.

I'm glad we have capable pitchers on the way. Can't wait to see Liriano.

Set in stone.

3, 4 and 5? The Bucs potentially have McDonald, Liriano, Morton, Locke and Cole to fill those three slots. Not a bad problem to have. None of those 5 will be confused with Verlander but at least 4 have serious upside and the one that doesn't, Locke, may be throwing the best of any pitcher currently in the rotation.

If Liriano or Karstens were healthy, Sanchez more than likely doesn't make the club.
Of course if Liriano was healthy, Karstens probably does not sign.

I think we'd all rather see Gaby Sanchez pitch than Jonathan Sanchez.

The Post-Gazette used Tony Sanchez's headshot when they reported Jonathan was suspended 6 games...

For now, at least, Locke has earned a spot in the rotation.

Depending on how things break J-Mac may be due a spell.

Liriano should get the last spot.

Morton? Anybodys guess. We'll see.

Eh. J-Mac just needs a backup plan out of the 'pen and/or a DL stint.

The problem here is that Sanchez's performance, or lackthereof, has had a trickle down effect which has nearly exhausted the bullpen and forced the Bucs to roll with their SP's in certain situations longer than they otherwise would.

If the Pirates have/had a viable #5 option who could go at least 5 innings consistently and only give up 4-5 runs (Locke lite) the last couple of games would have come out drastically different (or you would think).

It very well could be tough sledding until Liriano/Morton/Karstens come back, but when they do it should alleviate the problems we've witnessed the last two nights.

Liriano will take Sanchez' spot. Considering what we saw last night, Morton is likely to take JMac's spot.

I disagree about JMac. Nobody is taking his spot anytime soon.
