From MLB Rumors:

•A rival GM told Rosenthal that the 2013 version of the Pirates are the best Pirates team he's seen in 20 years (Twitter link).

Of course, in the comments some smart ass wrote "Not a real high bar to top, Ken".

To quote the great Dennis Miller,

I haven't seen a bar set that low since a dwarf's wake.

I agree, I think this is the best team we've had since '92. Although I think the '03 team was pretty good on paper, they just didn't play up to their abilities.

And I think next year's team will be even better.

The 99 team looked real good offensively. Pitching problems and Kendall's injury kept that team down...

I think they're definitely a team that is done with the "embarrassing" phase. I think they have nowhere to go but up. I felt like their biggest weaknesses on offense last season were in the outfield and C. Well....Russell Martin is a big upgrade. Marte/Snider are both big upgrades. Last year they had a very nice run before totally collapsing, so I expect them to be even more competitive this year. As long as the SP can hold up.

I don't buy anyone in the division being significantly better than them.

If the depth holds up, it could be a fun year. Last year's team was pretty good, but wafer thin. The added depth should allow the team to manage injury and ineffectiveness better.

I just hope Jon Sanchez doesn't get another start...

Every batter in the NL disagrees with you.
