This weekend the Power are visiting the Sand Gnats for a 4 game series. It's the first time in town for the Power since 2011. I'm planning on going to the Friday (St. Joseph/Candler Canned Food Drive/Facebook Friday!) and Monday (Kroger Dollar Monday!) games. I don't keep close tabs on prospects, other than what BP puts in their annual book. So, I humbly ask the board, who should I be keeping an eye on?

Josh Bell is the big one. He was ranked the 5th best hitter in the draft in 2011, the Pirates drafted him and were able to convince him to sign after had had sent out a letter asking no team to draft him because he was going to finish college. He missed most of last year due to an injury that required surgery but is fully healthy now and is hitting well in WV so far (hit his 4th HR today, actually).

Stetson Allie is one of the most interesting prospects, as he was drafted as a pitcher, it didn't work out and the Pirates recently converted him to a hitter/first basemen (he was said by scouts to have been a fourth or fifth round talent if drafted as a hitter). He has been redhot to start the year in WV and is hitting .377 with 6 HRs ... he does have some of the most raw power in the system.

Barrett Barnes was just recently promoted from low A and is someone I feel will progress through the minors pretty fluidly.

The most interesting pitcher is probably Tyler Glasnow, as he was so good in rookie ball that he instantly became one of the pitchers in the system to watch. Clay Holmes as well, who snuck onto a few 2013 Pirates top prospects lists, for example he was number ten on Keith Law's.
