The Pirates aren't really starting Jonathan Sanchez tonight, right? I mean, not after his first two starts. I assume the PBC is calling someone up to make this start.

If Sanchez is starting, how many runs will the Pirates have to score to win? I'm thinking at least 7.

Cardinals over J. Sanchez was my top bet on Heat and Meat today!

Sanchez goes 7 1/3 IP, 3 H's, 2 BB, 9 K's, 1 run allowed.

Pirates hitters get shut out, and the board members turn their wrath to the offense once again.

You heard it here first.

On a positive note...

Last night Greg Brown said Westbrook is only 1-7 lifetime against the Buccos. All isn't lost quite yet.

If you're going to give a guy a chance, give him a chance. You don't give him a spot in the rotation then give up after 2 starts.

I'm not a big Sanchez fan but I get it. But I agree with Ralphie, let's see how he does the rest of the month. His first outing wasn't awful. 3 ER, 5 IP, 7 Baserunners. He got shellacked in his second.

What other options do we have?

So many want to dump JMac.

and Sanchez.

So who would start??

You know, Leroux was a pretty successful starter in the minors.. oh yeah, the Bucs just dumped him.

The starting rotation is going to be pretty thin until guys get healthy and then if they can stay healthy.

The misses on all the overslot pitchers chosen in the draft since 2008 is rearing its ugly head.

We have to hope that the group that includes Liriano, Morton, Karstens, and Cole will pick up the slack when they are ready. But right now they are not, so it makes sense to stick with what we have.

They will sort themselves out soon enough. 2 starts is simply not a valid trial so it makes sense to send Sanchez back out there.

The goal tonight for him is to go three innings and give up less than 6.
