 Post subject: Gerrit Cole goes only two innings

Not horrible numbers except 6 baserunners, 1 ER (HR), but he did strikeout 5. His pitch count was 62 which isw hy only two innings.

Isn't that kind of a low number for Class AAA, even at the beginning of the season?

Maybe they are limiting his innings now so he can go longer when he gets to the majors.

Eh, I could see them pulling him just to not overwork him and get him all pressured and flustered in his second start of the season. 60+ pitches in 2 innings means those were 2 REALLY long innings.

I'm pretty sure the Pirates pull any minor league pitcher who throws 30 pitches in an inning, so that is my guess as to why Cole didn't go beyond 2 innings.

Correct, they have inning and game pitch count maxes. Many teams are doing this now.
