Why I'm a Pirates Fan: My father is from Pittsburgh, and my first baseball game I can remember was a Bucs-Cubs game at TRS in 1991. I also have many friends from Pittsburgh from going to summer camp in Conneaut, OH. I was never a baseball fan growing up, but I became one after reading Moneyball. Since I detest Yankee fans and didn't enjoy going to Mets games, I decided to choose a team for which I had some history and pleseant thoughts: the Pirates.
Least Favorite Team: Yankees
Fun Fact: The Pirates' color scheme matches that of my alma mater.
Did you know?: Hall of Famer Yogi Berra and my father are members of the same country club. I got married there in 2010, and Yogi Berra was unwittingly an attendee, or at least that is what I heard from all the guests. ("Did you know Yogi Berra is here?")

Hi my name is Ralph and I'm a Pirate fan. I became a fan in 1970 at age 9. Bob Prince had a lot to do with that. I stopped playing baseball at age 16 but never stopped being a Pirate fan.

Brushes with actual Pirates: Bill Madlock came to my frat house at IUP around 1980. Our little cockapoo wanted to tear him up. He partied with us a bit but all he was really concerned with was finding female companionship. We didn't help him out with that.

Dave Littlefield came to my sportsman's club a few years ago, after he had been fired. I talked to him at length about our club but couldn't bring myself to mention the Pirates. I didn't want to have to ask him about Matt Morris, and tell him what an idiot I thought he was for doing that.

My son is a landscaper. One of his customers is Tom Walker, Neil's dad. He has spoken to Neil many times as well as his brother-in-law, Donny Kelly. My boy doesn't think Neil will ever come to terms with the Pirates on an extension.

All-Time Fav: Roberto, Pops, Van Slick, Cutch

On-Board Since: Maybe five or six years.
Why I'm a Fan: As an impressionable 6-year old whose parents were not sports fans, was initially exposed to the Black n Gold in '71 World Series (one of the few times sports were on our family TV). Impressionable 6-year old boys gotta go with the winner (even though, ironically, my city was the home of the Orioles' AAA team, and most of the O's played in Rochester).
Fun Facts: During college, went to the opener at the Vet in '86 or '87. Sat next to Syd Thrift (as my friend's family's box was next to the Visiting Team Box) who told me (correctly) that Bonilla would make the successful switch from OF to 3B. Last year (or possibly '11), Cutch made a stellar sliding catch in the gap at Citi Field against the Mets for a third out after sprinting 50 yards. Cutch tossed it to an infielder (forgot who), who then tossed it to me, who was sitting imediately behind the Bucco dugout, in my Bucco regalia.
Sad Fact: Haven't really kept track, but I've surely seen them lose more than win in person (the vast majority at Shea/Citi). One particular sequence of pathetic note -- battling in a close game. Call to the bullpen. The next four Mets hitters went HBP-HBP-HBP-GrandSlam. Also, I dont really cry often (with the exception of funerals for close family members). But I cried when f'ing Sid Bream beat Barry's throw (gotta get a life).
Notable: While my 14-year old son is at essence a Red Sox fan, I've been successful in ensuring that the Bucs are his "NL team."
