Interesting note from MLBTR, quoting Jon Heyman:

Quote:
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman (via Twitter) wonders if New York would be interested in Pirates first baseman Gaby Sanchez, who "appears to be available."

Hadn't really considered the possibility of trading him at THIS point. I suppose if the return is right, it makes sense?

This is more of the Yankees need a 1B, thus every backup 1B is an option for the Overlord's. Trading him makes no sense for the Pirates right now. The NY press suggested he could be had for David Aardsma, because we need a setup guy fro Grilli

Guess I wouldn't go as far as "no sense", however I'm certainly in no rush to move him.

Sure. Of course, the Yankees seem like the worst route to chase the 'best possible return'.

it makes sense for the yankees to look at us because we do have surplus 1B corner OF right now, but we are in no rush to anything. they are a power position here, there is no need to just make a deal. I saw cashman say that everyone wants phelps , but he isn't looking to move anyone of value, he only wants to trade peices he doesnt want.

I really hope not...at least not unless the get a really good return. I like Gaby and think he is primed for a good year. He and GJ make up a GREAT platoon at 1b.

Considering we gave up a first round pick for Sanchez I would hope we wouldn't trade him for a scrub return.
