PPG had an encouraging report for McPherson's two innings against the Twins:

Kyle McPherson threw two scoreless innings in a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins Monday at Hammond Stadium.

McPherson hit 95 mph on the stadium radar gun and needed only 15 pitches to get through his two innings. Hurdle said the Pirates exercised caution after biceps tendinitis slowed McPherson during the winter.

The projection systems love KMac too, projecting him as one of the top 3 rookie SP in MLB this year. I continue to burn a candle for my favorite underrated SP prospect.

I read that the Twins hit a few balls very hard, but the velocity is encouraging. If he can keep the ball down and deal at 95 mph, we could have ourselves a nice little starter in Kyle McFear...

The nice thins is that not riding the bank on these kids like we always did in the past. We legitimately have 5 options for 2 rotation spots.
