Take a moment today to remember No. 21. I don't have any recollection of him, but my grandfather told me enough stories along with the history books to know what type of player and man he was. 40th Anniversary of his death and one of the saddest days in the history of sports and Pittsburgh.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. Roberto will always be a hero of mine, and will always be my favorite Pirate.

I couldn't agree with you more...I remember seeing Clemente dominate the '71 World Series as a seven year old and vividly remember hearing my older brother break the news to me over the phone 40 years ago...very sad day...

Recollection of Clemente has double meaning for me. My brother and Clemente were my two heros growing up and my brother emulated Clemente down to the basket catch and many of the batter's box mannerisms. Paul was killed in a car wreck 19 years ago in January, so my memories of Clemente, who I saw in person many times, are forever tied to my memories of my brother.

my wife, who I've converted to a Pirate fan has only learned of Roberto through me and video clips...she's amazed at how he is revered by all. Anytime she sees a little video tribute to him she tears up a little.

You are like a fine wine, Az. You get better with age and right now, you are DAMN good. Really, really, REALLY good.

P.S. Did you vote for Washington or Adams in 1792? I was a big Adams supporter.
