O's and M's interested in Garrett Jones, both with young SP to offer.

Two AL teams refused to discuss Hanrahan when approached by the Pirates due to questions about conditioning and late season effectiveness.

Talk amongst yourselves.

I've mentioned this before, but you have to wonder how much John Russell influences Showalter and the Baltimore staff as far as the Pirates stuff goes. I took notice of it last year when the Orioles signed Paulino, Pearce and McLouth. Could have been inconsequential, but it wouldn't surprise me if that communication between the two FOs might be a little tighter than others.

Now is the best time to trade Hanrahan and Jones, if we can.

Pitching, pitching and more pitching

I'm with you on Hanrahan, but you'd have a rather large hole to fill if you only got pitching in return for Jones.

I'm not too keen of trading Jones unless it was a return that, well, I don't even think is worth making a hypothetical for because I don't think it would be very realistic. I like the production Jones gives the Pirates, the only real downside is his defense which I think is tolerable for the power production. I suppose the former selling point on his versatility is kind of moot now with the crowded OF situation, but every single one of the alternatives is a big question mark at this point, and imagine how dire the outlook would be if Jones was out of the equation and we were only looking at Tabata/Presley/Snider scenario. And I'm kind of interested in the Jones/Sanchez platoon.

Here's an article on the Orioles' interest in Jones:

Quote:
The arbitration-eligible Jones is due a big bump this year, and Pittsburgh could be interested in a combination of some of the Orioles young pitchers: Jake Arrieta, Zach Britton or Pedro Strop
