The Twins declined their option on Matt Capps.

I know he was a polarizing figure here, but he's only going to be 29 next year and is a quality BP arm.

He could serve as a solid setup guy and, if he did, possible Jose Veras/Octavio Dotel-like trade bait.

I'd be fine with Capps is a non-closer role. In fact, I signed him for 2013 in OOTP13, lol. If he costs about $1-2 million he'd be a nice add.

OP was more than solid on its own merits, but watching the Giants these playoffs just proves the title of this thread even more.

Seeing them mow down the Tigers and those amazing comebacks vs. CIN and STL should prove to any baseball fan that pitching is essential.

Their 'pen is electric and their starting rotation is so good that they've let Lincecum shine out of said electric pen.

Like the Pirates, the Giants weren't the most productive offensive team, but moreso than the Pirates, they were sound defensively and with a top-notch rotation.

The Pirates would be wise to pursue pitching first and 'live with' their young, still growing offense.

As the Giants have proven yet again, pitching and defense is key and bats can be had at the deadline (Pence and Scutaro).
