It was noted that both Swisher and Martin are both free agents this upcoming year.
Do you think either or both could be here next year? Could fill a couple of holes.

Martin would be OK, but I think he will get a bit too much, something like 2 years $15 million.

Swish will get way too much for his age (32)and skill set, my guess is 4 years $60 million.

Don't get me wrong, I like both guys, but I don't think either will be Pirates.

I'd say no to both. Martin has been miserable. Swisher is way over rated. He is a butcher in the outfield so he would have to play first. I'll take Garrett Jones.

your right, he (swisher) probably would get 10-15 million a year, which is unbelievable because I do not think he is in that type of category to get that much money...I think he will get a 4 year 45 million dollar deal, compare that to kubel, cuddeyer, willingham and whoever signs him just shot themselves in the foot. I would much rather have any of the aforementioned 3 players instead of swisher and they signed for a whole lot less last year..

You know what I like about Nick Swisher?

.361

That's his career on-base percentage. In 2012 it was .364. In 2011 it was .374. The Pirates could desperately use a guy who gets on base at that clip and who also has hit at least 21 home runs in each of the last eight seasons.

I don't know if I'd pay him $60 million over 4 years, but I'd certainly pay him $45 million for 3 years.

I think someone is going to overpay for him. He is a prime candidate for a DH spot. I would never want to see him playing in the outfield. First base? OK. But only at a reduced price.
