There has been a lot of discussion in recent weeks on this, but I don't remember seeing anything on this message board about it.

Teams that are battling for playoff spots are whining because of the difficulty of preparing for and managing games against 12-man bullpens and deep benches. They say it's not fair.

My opinion is, it's been that way for decades, and nobody has complained. So what if they have to face extra players. They are AAA players for Pete's sake. And if they are so tough to prepare for, why don't they bring up their own AAA players to make it hard on the other team?

Doug Melvin was saying that it's like playing basketball 5 on 8 or football 11 on 18. That's a stupid analogy. It's still 9 on 9.

Yeah Melvin's analogy is dumb, makes no sense.

The compromise I've heard floated about (including by Hurdle) is to have a gameday 25 roster that you announce each day. That way the game is played with 25 like it is all season, but you can freely move guys in and out day to day to look at people.

I'm pretty sure the rules are the same for everybody.
