MLB Trade Rumors mentioned this article today on Travis Snider's turbulent relationship with Cito Gaston and Gene Tenace up in Toronto. If true, it really underscores his need to get out of there. I know I've ragged on him recently, but he is only 24, and if he finds his stroke, he could be an offensive force for the Bucs. The power has been there. It sounded to me like he had a better approach to hitting than either Gaston or Tenace.

Great find, Doug.

I was interested to read Snider's comment about in-game coaching. Snider referenced a situation where Gaston was making comments to Snider during a game about catching up to Greinke's fastball. Snider did not want to hear it during the game.

That is something I always believed too. No coaching during the game. Let the guys play. Spring training, BP, pre-game, etc. are the places to be coached, not when you are trying to square up a pitch from Hamels or Volquez.

Was Snyder infected with the injury bug in Toronto like he is here?

The article mentioned that he had a wrist injury in 2009, right when he became red hot.

Didn't he get hurt with us right as he got hot? Maybe Barmes is on to something.

Wow, what a story. I'm pretty pumped for tomorrow and Thursday's chapters.

You mean when the guy is sitting in the dugout, when they've got 8-10 minutes of doing nothing?

Wow, sounds like he has been bothered a lot in his career by things that are beyond his control. I hope he has matured beyond that.

I agree with his concerns. Sounds like they put a bullseye on his back and rode him from the day he got there. Not pulling the ball when it's down the middle is one thing, but hitting it hard the other way when the pitch is away is just good hitting. And you can't be getting in a guy's head during a game.
