Yeah, I'm going to rant on him again. Mostly because we gave up a pretty good bullpen arm for him that we could have used yesterday. I said in another thread how it seems he hardly ever hits a ball in the air, especially with authority. We got a "barely deep enough" sacrifice fly out of him yesterday, but every other key situation he comes up in, he grounds out.

Apparently he hit for some power in Toronto, but I sure don't see it here. And he is not injured.

If he had Alex Presley speed, I wouldn't care. In fact, I wish Presley hit the ball on the ground like Snider does, and vice versa.

All you sabre guys out there, is there a stat for that? I feel that's why to analyze this game you need a combination of intuitiveness and sabremetrics. I became intuitively aware that he hits it on the ground more often that average, so now it should be quantified and monitored.

His breakdown this year is 63 ground balls, 29 fly balls, 18 line drives, 2 bunts. That's a 56.3% ground ball average this year. For his career he is at 44.8% do I don't know if its fluky or something they want him to try and do more. It also could be his wonky hamstring.

By the way Presley hits ground balls 53.1% of the time for his career.

Hey, thanks. Is that figured as a %age of just balls in play?

while sniders sample size in pittsburgh is nothing to get too excited about, I will give him the benefit of doubt because maybe his hamstring has been the reason why he cant hit the ball with authority.
When he came to chicago in that first series as a pirate i think he had about 4 hits in that series and all of them were weakly hit and just enough to get past the second basemen, he had an average of over .300 for most of his time here this season but I swear it was the luckiest .300+ I have seen, outside of that home run in the epic 6 run blown lead against whales vagina (san diego) he has hardly hit a ball hard as a pirate.

Yes, it doesn't include K or BB
