Its a no brainer (as in Hurdle lacks a brain) with Barajas's post break ops of .480 vs. McKenry's at .808! It must be defense, except that Fort is better by Total Zone Runs (-4 vs. -7) and Defensive Runs Saved (-2 vs. -9), he's better at preventing passed balls (2 vs. 7), better at stopping wild pitches (13 vs. 21), and better at throwing runners out (14% vs. 8%). I doubt its pitch framing either as Rod ranked poorly in that area last year. I guess Rod just knows how to call a game.

The Pirates Twitter feed actually has Presley is in RF and Tabata in LF. Not sure why they'd switch. :?:

They better at least crack .500 or Hurdle is on the hot seat.

I might have just typed it wrong assuming the better defensive alignment.

Edit - Pirates Twitter feed confirms switch Presley in LF, Tabata in RF

Any word on when Walker is coming back? Holt has played well, but let's be honest... we're a better team offensively with Neil Walker. And if Holt keeps hitting the ball, maybe he can play shortstop. Either way, I wanna know when Walker will return.

Part of me would like to see the Pirates rebound, there is another part of me that would like to see them put out of their misery, it's like watching a wounded animal

Absolutely horrible at bat by Pedro. Three curve balls in the dirt, three flails and a quick K.

I just wish Holts D was better. Putting him at SS will be scary. To me his bat isn't worth it.

Latos appears to be off his game tonight. Good news for us.

I'm thinking that if we can't win a game where we've gotten back-to-back RBI at-bats from Rod Barajas and Wandy Rodriguez, then the baseball gods just hate us and there's not much that we can do about it.

Really bad move, and we get burned. Except for Votto's lead-off single they hadn't hit the ball out of the infield. Horrible move, Clint.
