Quote:
The Royals acquired power-hitting first baseman Mike Jacobs from the Florida Marlins on Thursday for right-handed reliever Leo Nunez.
Jacobs, who turned 28 on Thursday, should answer the Royals' need for a proven power hitter. He had career highs of 32 home runs and 93 RBIs for the Marlins last season. A left-handed hitter, he batted .247 and had an on-base percentage of .299.

Another salary dump by the Marlins...

But opens an interesting situation in Kansas City with a plethora of 1st basemen...

Nah, Littlefield doesn't like flamethrowers. In fact, he had already given away Leo Nunez once...for 6 games of Benito Santiago, if I recall.

Don't insult Santa like that! That kind of insult is the equivalent of being bad all year(insert Pirate joke here).

I don't think that it was all that lopsided. Jacobs just had the best year of his career and it was no better than a bad year for Adam LaRoche.

If so, then Littlefield got real smart real fast. Nunez has the potential to be a very good reliever, possibly a closer. Jacobs is a left-handed version of Brad Eldred.

Wilton, Sisyphus, slow down guys... I was making a weak attempt at humor with my comment. I knew it was a stretch, but you guys didn't have to get all serious on me.

Sorry. There were a few guys who overrated Jacobs here a year or two ago, and I thought that you were serious.
