A few days ago, someone started a thread about enjoying baseball and the start of college football.

Well, I'm one of those guys and I've landed a really exciting gig professionally in college football. I'm in Knoxville (home to the Tennessee Vols) and as some of you may now, I do voice over work full time from my home studio.

For the past week, I've been recording promos, past highlight features, "Vol Legends" segments and more the the Jumbotron at Neyland Stadium. :)

The stadium holds 109,000 people and the atmosphere on game day is like nothing I've ever experienced before. Needless to say, it's surreal to be in the stadium and hear my voice booming out over the PA.

Just thought I'd share with some fellow sports junkies like myself.

Didn't they have some well-known QB a few years ago?

Oh, that's right, the Vols had Tee Martin at QB.

Or was I thinking of Heath Shuler ... ? 8-)

You'd be amazed at how many people argue that Tee was better than Peyton, simply because we won a Nat'l Chamionship with Tee.

Tee didn't even make a practice squad in the NFL. He did his job: protect the ball and don't do anything stupid.

You know, I'd be willing to bite on that argument. What matters more: a national Championship or a famous alum playing the NFL? Pros and college are different animals and different criteria apply. Which is why I don't much care about the animosity some failed Heisman winners generate during their pro career.

I was working at a little local radio station that carried high school football when Todd Helton played for Central High. He was an amazing athlete. I remember one high school baseball game when the opposing team walked him repeatedly, just so he wouldn't hit one out. At one time, his high school BA was .700.

Tee didn't "win it". He inherited a team that was still gelling under Peyton. If Peyton had been here that year, he would have won it.

Please do. My team will take Andrew Luck and yours can have Craig Krenzel.

Your team is going to have National Championship experience. That's going to be great for your team. My team is going to tear yours limb from limb, but still - can't put a price on that experience.
