That was when we thought McKenry was going to be a career backup catcher. A correction has since been made.

So why did Rod start when Locke pitched the other day after McKenry tore it up offensively the day before?

LOL, gold.

It appears the Fort got Hurdled again this evening. Only reason Barajas is a mainstay in the lineup is because Hurdle asked for him in FA & would look bad if he was benched. He is very Lebeau-esque in his love affair with ghosts of former players starting. Guaranteed big snack starts asap whether Steve McLendon or Ta'amu are better or not.

No need to bring LeBeau into this and talk bad about him... :D

Loved the squeeze play however. Don't see that much anymore, or properly executed.

Interesting stats courtesy of RumBunter:

With the bases full this season, Clint Barmes is batting .429 a remarkable 6-for-14 with 16 RBI! In bases loaded situations, Barmes has an OPS over 1.000. The guy has 41 RBI all season and 16 of them have come in huge situations with the bases full of Bucs??! In extra innings, Barmes is batting .500 with two doubles.

Just one of those weird little stats that means nothing. Just interesting...

Barajas is the weakest bat in our lineup. Even weaker than the pitchers spot. Very sad.

Barmes has shown some signs at times. Just that one play vs the astros last week just pissed me off. Should total lack of concentration and focus.

We did win a world series with a weak hitting shortstop (tim foli).

Didn't Foli hit about .270 that year? We didn't have an easy out in 1979. Even our pitchers could hit.

Just remember, we were 16 games over with Barmes and Barajas in the lineup, yes they are week hitters but they aren't the reason for losing. Our three biggest reasons are Walker out and Cutch and the starting pitching. You don't need to look past those 3 reasons.

.288 with twice as many walks as strikeouts. It was a career year for him, but then championships are won on the back of players having their best seasons. We all know what kind of year Pops had, but when your SS is having a similar year, well, that just makes everything else easier...

And the bullpen struggling at all the wrong moments, taht is the foundation of this 5 game losing streak, 2 Grillis and 1 Hughes.

You say that, but Barajas and Barmes are not helping. Players go through swings of performance, and when Cutch and Walker aren't hitting, others need to do so in their stead.
