Pay attention guys, I am going to ask for a little help on this one. We'll get to that one in a minute

UGLY! Ok, just forget about this series. Totally remove it from your minds. What sweep? Here it is, September 2, and we are still right there in the thick of the pennant race.....just 1 1/2 games out of the wild card spot. Forget this series. Go from here! Be positive. Look forward. Make hay against the Cubs and Astros. But on the other hand, this was an enjoyable game, a wild game. We kept coming back. But forget about it!!!! Onto the stuff!

STARTER: JMac. Weird game. Just 2.2 innings. 6 hits, 1 walk, 8 runs, 7 earned. Of the 8 outs he got, six were by strikeout. WEIRD! VERY WEIRD! Nothing to do but call this one a horrible start!

LOSER: JMac took the loss to drop to 12-7, with 3.90 ERA.

GOAT: Here is where I need all of your help. Post your vote for the goat out of these guys. JMac. His horrible day is outlined above...but on the other hand, he gave up 8 runs, but the Bucs offense kept it kinda close. Bucs scored 8 runs. Mac was followed by Leroux...When Leroux came in, it was 8-4. He prompty gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk in 1.1 innings, making it 11-4 by the time he was done. The Bucs tried to chistle their way back, but come up a little short. And as far as possible offensive goats go..Pedro went 0-4 with a walk and a K. He stranded 4 runners, In first, he left runners on first and third, hitting a fly out with 2 outs. In 9th, he came in with runners on first and second, no outs, down by 4, and flew out. Pedro also had error in 1st that led to unearned run. Harrison went 0-5, striking out twice and stranding 5 runners. With guys on first and second, with 2 outs in the 3rd and Bucs down by just 2, he struck out. In 5th, with a runner on first and one out, he flied out. Then in the 9th, with runners on 1st and 2nd, with 2 outs, he struck out...So, let me know who gets your vote for goat...Mac, Leroux, Pedro, or Harrison?? Prior to tomorrow's game, I will tally up the votes!

Honorable Mention: We came up a little short, but got some nice contributions from lots of guys. Brock Holt went 2-5 in his first major league start and drove in a run. Tabata continued his decent play since his return, going 2-4 and scoring a run. Resop gave us 2 scoreless innings, at least giving the Bucs a shot at a comeback.

Star #3: The top 3 stars are pretty much a tossup, and could really be moved around in any order...but here is how I am placing them and why.. #3, In a close race, Mike McKenry gets the #3 star. He goes 2-4 with a HR, a walk, 2 runs, and 3 RBI, but he also stranded 2 guys. Still a real nice day.

Star #2: Gaby Sanchez gets the #2 star, by going 2-4, plus a walk, a HR, 1 run, and 3 RBI. He ended up stranding one runner.

Star #1: Garret Jones. Nearly perfect offensive day 3-3, plus 2 walks. He hit a HR, drove in 1 and scored 3.

To rip off Bill Simmons:

I have very few set rules in life, but when someone gives up tape-measure home runs to 4 of the 16 batters he faces, voting for them as Goat of the Game is one of them. J-Mac.

Hurdle, should have pulled McDonald as soon as he walked the 1st batter, that's what we all thought admit it!

J-Mac. It would seem this performance is more the norm (though this was the worst by far), but one out of every 5 starts he throws an absolute gem and keeps us hanging on and hoping...

Well I think the goat HAS to go to a pitcher. My vote is everyone who pitched.

For what? 1 play? He also knocked in the only run the Pirates scored.

Your doubting of the wisdom of Clevelandsux shows that you're obviously Pedro Alvarez's brother, and that you work in a coal mine and collect Star Trek figurines. And your foot probably has an 8th grade education at best and probably can't even read.

There. Consider yourself pwned.
