OUCH! Needed this game, but lost. MUST win tomorrow. Exciting game. A little bit of everything. Great pitching. Good defense on both sides. A couple of clutch hits. MUST win tomorrow.

STARTER: Burnett pitched a great game. No hitter for 5 innings, even though a little wildness and failure by him and Barajas to get anyone out stealing bases led to a run. He faltered a little late and gave up another..but still 6.2 innings, just 2 hits, 4 BB, and 9 K's..just 2 ERs. GREAT START.

LOSER: Hanrahan throws 2 pitches and takes his first loss, dropping to 4-1, 2.49. Ok, though, what are all those fans going to say now who bitch when Hurdle refuses to use Hanrahan in a tie game??

GOAT: Giving shared goat horns tonight. A lot of guys failed tonight in crucial situations. Pedro left 4 guys on base. Barajas allowed 87 stolen least it SEEMED like 87. Jones K'd in a crucial situation late. Cutch failed with 2 guys on early. But Presley gets some horns for striking out three times, and left the bases loaded in the 9th, without swinging. Hanrahan takes some horns too.

Honorable Mention: Holt came through with a clutch PH walk in his first major league appearance in the 8th and subsequently came around to score the tying run. Hughes worked out of a slight jam in the 7th to keep us close. Grilli worked a strong 8th after giving up a leadoff double to keep it a one run game and allowed the Bucs to come back and tie it up.

STAR #3: Pedro came through with a solo HR early to give us the lead. Unfortunately, he also stranded 4 runners...but still did more than most of the team tonight.

STAR #2: Cutch came through in the clutch once and failed once in the clutch. Went 2-4 and drove in a run. Stole second and got to third on bad throw to give us a chance at another run.

STAR #1: Giving it to Burnett...when we needed a great start, he gave us one. Better offense would have given us a win. Burnett did all he could tonight to lead us to victory...
